In this article, we’ll guide you through reverting from the new block-based cart/checkout to the previous version (classic) for greater compatibility with third-party themes and plugins.

Intro
For WooCommerce stores started after the release of version 8.3 in November 2023, the Cart and Checkout blocks are the default experience. Unfortunately, at the moment this new feature does not provide all the hooks used in previous versions and this can prevent the possibility of advanced customization used in many plugins.
For this reason, to fully use some advanced features of third party plugins or hooks, it is recommended to use the “Classic” shortcodes, which guarantee full compatibility not only with WooCommerce B2B but with all the other plugins.

Step 1: change shortcodes

Both the cart and checkout blocks can be transformed back to the classic version using the transform button in the block toolbar.

  1. Edit the page

    • If using a block theme: Go to Appearance -> Editor -> Pages, then select Cart or Checkout and click the Edit icon
    • If using a non-block theme: Go to Pages -> All Pages, and then locate and edit the Cart/Checkout page.

  2. Open the List View and select the Cart or Checkout block.
  3. Click the “Transform” button, which is leftmost in the block toolbar
  4. Choose “Classic Shortcode”.
  5. The block will be transformed into a Classic Shortcode placeholder block.
  6. Save your changes by clicking the Save button in the top bar.

Note: Since the cart and checkout blocks work together, if you’re reverting to the classic version of the cart and checkout experience, you’ll want to revert both the cart and checkout to the classic shortcode version.

WARNING! Before making any changes, make sure you have made a complete backup of site files and database.
It is advisable not to edit the theme files directly, but to use a child theme.
