Target
In this article, we will guide you step by step through setting up and using quotations using WooCommerce B2B. You will learn how to manage quotation requests, how to edit them, and how to complete the purchase process.
Intro
In many B2B contexts, offering customers the possibility to ask for personalized quotes and offers based on their purchase order is a winning strategy for several reasons:
- Increases the possibility of conversion: a customized offer is more likely to be accepted, since it responds directly to the customer’s needs
- Improves the customer experience: a personalized offer demonstrates that the company has taken the time to understand their needs, creating a more satisfying purchasing experience
- Increases the perception of value: the customer feels valued and listened to in their specific needs, this personalization makes them feel unique and important to the company
- Builds customer loyalty: a positive and personalized purchasing experience increases the probability that the customer will become loyal to the company and recommend it to others
WooCommerce B2B offers a completely innovative and very easy to use way, both for the customer and for the shop manager, to quickly manage requests for quotes and personalized offers and provide a quick response to the customer’s request, demonstrating efficiency and attention.
This system is a key element to differentiate yourself from the competition and create a lasting bond with customers.
Step 1: payment method enablement
Quotations in WooCommerce B2B are managed through a payment gateway, perfectly integrated into WooCommerce. To enable it, simply go to the appropriate section of WooCommerce settings:
WooCommerce -> Settings -> Payments
and enable the “Quotation request” payment method:

Step 2: general settings
Customers can see their own quote requests in their reserved area (usually on the “My account” page). Let’s make sure everything is configured correctly to allow this. To do so, simply go to:
WooCommerce -> Settings -> B2B
and check the settings:
- Enable quotations: allows you to activate the specific page of MyAccount where the customer can consult the quotations
- Quotation endpoint: the URL of the specific page of “My account” where the customer can consult the quotations, if you want to customize it.
Click on “Save changes”:

Since now on, on the “My account” page you will be able to see a specific section dedicated to quote requests:

Step 3: quotation request creation
Now that everything is set up, your customers will be able to make quote requests. The process is completely similar to creating an order:
- The customer adds the products they want to the cart
- Once the cart is created, they proceed to checkout
- In checkout, they choose “Quotation request” as the payment method
- Click on “Place order”
A full-fledged order is generated in WooCommerce, but with a special status “On quote”. All orders with “On quote” status are listed in the section of the “My account” page previously considered.
The customer receives an email summarizing his request:

The admin receives a summary email of the customer’s request:

Step 4: offer customization
The site admin or shop manager can modify the order received, adjusting prices and/or quantities, to customize the offer to propose to the customer:

Once finished, just change the order status to “Quoted”:

The customer receives a summary email with the changes made and the new totals:

Step 5: offer acceptance
On their “My account” page, the customer can consult the offers proposed and can complete the payment by clicking on the “Pay” button using one of the payment methods present and configured in your WooCommerce:

Once the payment is completed, the quotation is converted into an actual order and can be processed as such.
It is advisable not to edit the theme files directly, but to use a child theme.
